Master Thesis – Fuel Cell Electrodes/Catalyst inks
PowerCell is a fast-moving company, and we have fun doing what we do. Come join us!
At PowerCell Group, we are decarbonizing industries. We design, develop and manufacture hydrogen electric fuel cells and systems for aviation, propulsion, stationary, and marine applications. Our fuel cell systems have unparalleled power density, and the only emissions are water and heat. At our headquarters, located in Gothenburg, more than 150 employees work hard to deliver zero-emission solutions to customers around the world. We are growing fast and are always looking for new colleagues to add to our innovative, friendly, and ambitious culture.
We are looking for a master student in the Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) team. Background in chemistry, material science or physics should be advantageous, but other backgrounds can also be relevant for a motivated applicant. We have many topics that are relevant, and this can be tailored depending on the applicant. The most important part is interest in researching and understanding the catalyst layers in a proton exchange membrane fuel cell.
Some examples of topics are listed here:
- Plan and conduct experiments on the production of catalyst layers for fuel cells. Topics to answer are how to characterize and achieve crack free catalyst layers. Different parameters of how the catalyst layers are produced should also be investigated.
- Investigate the properties of catalyst inks for fuel cells, using methods such as rheology and light scattering techniques.
- Method development for how to interpret results from rheology. There is room here to expand new ways to analyze the data, such as applying modelling and machine learning.
Start beginning of 2025. 30 HP.
Most of the work should be expected to be conducted in the labs of PowerCell.
We offer you the opportunity to join the journey with us to deliver true zero emission to our customers, partners, and the world. You will work with highly skilled and devoted people; cutting-edge tech and you will be able to have an impact on the work and on the organization. PowerCell is a fast-moving company, fast growing and we have fun doing what we do. Come join us!
